Reconstruction
On 5 May 1945, the German occupier capitulated. It meant the end of the second world war for the Netherlands. On May 8, Canadian liberators marched over the Berlage bridge through Amsterdam. The Amsterdammers were flocking to greet the Canadians turned. It was the beginning of a lot of Liberation events, which would last for the whole summer. The reconstruction is a period of hard work. There is a lot of housing and the economy is silent. Within a few years the Netherlands rebuilt and got a growing economy. Life after the second world war is getting better.
