A beautiful inspiring book

At the Noordermarkt, human connection and diversity are still naturally. For more than 400 years everyone has been welcome without distinction of color, religion, environment, nationality, race, origin, age or sex.

This special market at this historic location in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam deserves A BEAUTIFUL INSPIRING BOOK full of photos and interviews highlighting the unique social heart of this market.

A team of professional volunteers, directed by Monique Engelenburg-Smits, has meanwhile produced a brochure (dummy) that gives an impression of the book that will be published. The dummy is for obtaining grants from funds, organizations, individuals and the municipality of Amsterdam.

The municipality is right behind our initiative; grant applications are in full swing, but more is needed to finance the printing and mark the first edition. That will happen with a fashion show on Noordermarkt Monday in May 2025 and with the creation of a traveling video exhibition about the market.
